BYOC Trends

Open in Looker

How the customer base and usage move over time. Three tabs (Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly) show the same five charts:

ChartShows
Organizations with ≥N Live ClustersOrganizations whose accounts billed at least N clusters in the period.
Accounts with ≥N Live ClustersThe same, per account.
Live ClustersClusters that billed in the period.
CCU UsageCCU consumed in the period (in thousands).
CPUs (Cores)CPU cores of the week's top-100 clusters by usage. Monthly and quarterly show the average weekly total.

Each chart has the count (blue) and its growth % against the previous period (black line, right axis).

Min Live Clusters≥ 1Organizations/accounts charts: count only those with at least this many billed clusters.
Min Avg Monthly CCU0Organizations/accounts charts: count only those whose average monthly CCU reaches this.

Average monthly CCU scales the period's CCU to a month: a month's total as is, a quarter's total divided by 3, a week's total multiplied by 52/12. Setting, say, 5,000 shows how many customers consume at least 5,000 CCU a month, which is a good signal of a real, active customer.

Partial periods are periods that haven't finished (the current week, month or quarter) or that the date window cuts short (with a 12-month window starting on the 1st, the first quarter and first week usually start part-way through). They make the last or first point look like a drop. They're hidden by default.

What changed this period

Click any point (the count or the %) and choose What changed this period — added & churned (vs previous). You get the list behind the change: organizations, accounts or clusters that qualified this period but not the previous one (Added) and the reverse (Churned). The list uses the same thresholds as the chart, so previous + added − churned = this period.

Good to know

  • "Live" here means billed in the period, which differs from BYOC Summary's "exists right now".
  • Quarters are calendar quarters: Q1 is January to March.
  • The first point on each chart has no growth %, because there's no earlier period in the window to compare with.
  • Cores cover the top-100 clusters only, so they track the biggest workloads rather than the whole fleet.
